At Skhillz Academy, each learning phase culminates in more than just completion—it’s a launch into the next level of growth. Our graduation and promotion criteria are designed to ensure that students are not only academically prepared, but also personally and socially ready to thrive at the next stage.
We don’t believe in arbitrary grade-level promotion. We believe in earning progress through mastery, demonstration, and personal development.
Promotion from Year 2 (Discovery) to Year 3 (Advancement) requires:
Academic Readiness
Mastery of core skills in reading, writing, and math
Mastery of core skills in reading, writing, and math
Completion of interdisciplinary projects in science and social studies
Demonstrated digital literacy and keyboarding fluency
Learning Behaviors
Consistent participation and task completion
Growth in self-regulation, collaboration, and communication
Reading fluency at or above grade level
Portfolio Submission
A student-led presentation of three favorite assignments
Reflections on what they’ve learned and where they’re growing
Promotion from Year 2 (Discovery) to Year 3 (Advancement) requires:
Academic Achievement
Completion of required courses in English, math (up to Algebra I), science, and history
At least one elective in career exploration or entrepreneurship
Passing grades in 80% or more of enrolled courses
Portfolio & Performance
Completed digital portfolio with writing samples, passion projects, and reflection
Teacher evaluations and a student-led review meeting
Community service (recommended: 10 hours minimum)
Portfolio & Performance
1:1 goal-setting meeting to design a personalized high school graduation plan with a Skhillz Advisor
A final, independent project tied to a student’s career interest or personal passion. Includes written report, public presentation, and digital showcase.
Resume and LinkedIn profile
One completed college application or business plan
Participation in mock interviews or pitch sessions
Financial literacy modules
Minimum of 30 verified service hours or impact project related to social change, equity, or entrepreneurship
