Academics at Skhillz Academy

Not Just Learning. Skill-Building for Life.

At Skhillz Academy, academics go beyond worksheets and standardized tests. We deliver a future-ready, student-centered curriculum that prepares learners to thrive in a changing world—whether their path leads to college, career, or entrepreneurship.

We’ve reimagined the traditional K–12 structure into four distinct phases designed to support the growth, curiosity, and clarity of every learner:

Foundations (Grades K–2)

Where curiosity meets confidence.

Our youngest learners explore the building blocks of literacy, numeracy, creative expression, and self-awareness. Through play-based learning and project exploration, they begin to develop critical thinking, emotional regulation, and a love for learning.

  • Phonics-Based Reading – Literacy instruction rooted in decoding, comprehension, and expressive language.

  • Hands-On Math – Visual and manipulative-based exploration of foundational math concepts.

  • STREAM Story Labs – Science, tech, reading, engineering, arts, and math through inquiry-driven storytelling.

  • Digital Literacy –
Age-appropriate tech readiness, coding, AI, and keyboard fluency.

  • SEL + Executive Functioning – Emotional intelligence, classroom routines, and growth mindset.

  • Physical Education & Movement – Developmental motor skills, play-based fitness.

  • Art & Music – Creative expression embedded into daily instruction.

🧑‍🏫 Instruction is delivered via flexible synchronous or asynchronous blocks, with optional enrichment and family coaching support.

Discovery (Grades 3–5)

Where learners begin to lead their own learning.

Students begin to apply foundational skills to real-world concepts through problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking. Instruction becomes more cross-curricular, project-based, and deeply personal.

  • Core Subjects – Writing, grammar, math fluency, reading comprehension

  • Science & Social Studies – Exploratory units in global studies, ecosystems, civics, and economics

  • Purpose Projects – Small group, inquiry-based activities designed to connect academic goals with student interests

  • Digital Tools & Literacy – Keyboarding, AI, Coding, digital citizenship, and intro to safe research

  • STEAM Integration – Design challenges, coding games, and applied creativity

  • Weekly Scholar Talks – Guided discussions to build articulation, empathy, and voice

  • Intro to AI Concepts – Recognizing how AI works in daily life, through storytelling and visuals

📅 Students attend virtual lessons 3–5 days a week with personalized pacing and access to learning coaches.

Advancement (Grades 6–8)

Where mastery leads to momentum.

This is the bridge to high school. Students sharpen independent learning skills while beginning to specialize. We introduce career clusters, high-interest electives, and deeper reflection on purpose and identity. Students also begin to develop real-world competencies in emotional awareness, digital ethics, and future-focused collaboration.

  • Integrated Core – English, Algebra prep, life sciences, civics & social systems

  • Passion-Based Projects – Research, writing, and public speaking tied to individual interests

  • AI Foundations – Algorithmic thinking, ethical AI conversations, and intro to prompt design

  • Entrepreneurial Thinking – Business simulations, budgeting, creative problem-solving

  • Digital Portfolios – Students begin curating project work into professional collections

  • Peer Collaboration Pods – Mixed-age discussions and group problem-solving

  • World Language Electives – Spanish, French, or ASL

  • Optional Pathway Courses – Technology, creative writing, real estate, or coding

💻 Students participate in both instructor-led core courses and choose from enrichment or self-paced electives. Advisory sessions provide social, academic, and emotional guidance.

Launchpad (Grades 9–12)

Where vision becomes direction—and direction becomes impact.
